What do you think about Bjarni's thoughts on craftsmen?

It was interesting, Bjarni thought, how tradesmen, when they set about improving something, be it a cart, a house or a ship, always practically destroyed it first. (I'm not sure of the exact wording but that's basically what it says)

(I'm not sure of the exact wording but that's basically what it says) Ah, yes. He's got a point there. What he said reminds me of a quote from LoTR. "And he that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom." - Gandalf.

While both sentences are true, they don't apply to the same situation. Breaking something and practically destroying something are two very different things.

The way Skandians care for their ships reminds me of a quote from Spirit Walker. “A skinboat is not just a boat! It’s a hunting partner!”.
As for my favourite Brotherband book, I’m not sure. I’ve only read the first six, none of them stand out above the others. I prefer it to Ranger’s Apprentice, but RA still ranks as one of my favourite series of all time, and it’s difficult to choose between them. And if it wasn’t for RA, I doubt I’d enjoy BB nearly as much.

Yeah. I read BB first, so I think they helped me to enjoy the RA more. I actually only just found out that our library had BB: book 9. I'm currently reading it.

What is BrotherBand nine called? I didn't even know John Flanagan had written a book nine, let alone published it.
