I had finally finished The Caldera and I'll probably move on to RA books. I only read the first one but I need to wait for the 2nd until I reserve one from the library...

Are they in high demand? Our library normally has a copy available. (Probably because most of the people just borrow the books from our family, rather than go to the library)

Well...funny story actually... I still have it reserved but it took so long that I finally grabbed the copy when it came back on the shelf. :-P

Heh. Good old library. At least you've got it now.

I’m currently reading the first book in the Brotherband series so it’s quite hard to pick a favourite already but I have to say that I like it so far. I’ll come back and write when I’ve read all the books. :)

I like the first one. It's kind of sad though. How far through are you?

Yeah. Although a little, sadistic part of my mind finds it rather amusing at the same time.

Yeah. I kind of saw it coming. Some of the stuff make it a bit obvious but I think that was slightly necessary. You wouldn't want it to come as surprise. Like Halt would say; 'Always be prepared for the worst. That way, it can't surprise you.' (slightly paraphrased. I don't know the exact wording but that's close enough)

I hadn't exactly expected it, but at the time I didn't know what John Flanagan's style was like. Now that I see that he likes cliff-hangers, I would've maybe guessed it.

True. I guess that's the advantage of reading Ranger's Apprentice first. The Ruins of Gorlan was his first book so he was experimenting with his style and getting the feel for it. By the time BrotherBand came round, he had everything sorted so he could put more focus on leaving the readers in suspense. Look at the bright side, the second and third books are already published so we won't have to wait a year for the next one.

The second and third Brotherband books or the second and third RA books? "cause I'm pretty sure there are more than just three. :-P (I'm probably just mis-reading it though)

Both. John Flanagan likes leaving his books on a cliffhanger. It would be torture if we had to wait a year for the next one. (I was probably mis-writing it)

Reading a cliff-hanger and then having to wait for the writer to publish the sequel is VERY torturing. (Guess who was just reading a cliff-hanger type of book. )
