The title is pretty self explanatory What do think, is it a good idea that they're going to make it into a movie? Or what are your thoughts?

I think it could be an awesome movie if it is handled right. I wish it would get started already though, it has been in production for over 5 years...

Really? I didn't know it had been in production that long. Hmm. Learn something new every day I guess.

Yeah, as far as I know they had no money, then when they had it there scrip guy got involved in something and got fired, then the rights moved from Disney to Warner Bros and I have heard nothing else (Not completely sure, I read it somewhere)

Personally, I'm not particularly enthusiastic about it. Sure, Ranger's Apprentice has potential to be a great movie but I'm not sure anyone could physically do justice to it. Once I've watched the movie, all my preconceived ideas of what characters look like and all that will die and I probably wont have the time or the resources to give them a proper funeral pyre. *pauses to meditate on the potential tragedy* Nevermind actually, as long as Will has curly hair and Morgarath has black eyes, I won't be too fussed.

I think it's save to say that most fans are normally cautiously optimistic when they here that they here that a book series they love is being turned into a movie.

Cautiously optimistic, hmm. I think I'm more cautiously pessimistic. I think it would be cool if they just did the first book as a movie but left the rest alone until a later date. (Which they might be doing. I have no idea)

I have found that movies that take 5 years+ are pritty good like, lord of the rings & I think that JF will not let them make his movie if he thinks that its not good. plus if JF trusts them i do to. from: *kiwi*

Yeah, I guess that's true. The other problem, of course, is that, if they do do the series justice, the movie will probably have to be rated M or something.

Why would you say that? I can't recall anything off the top of my head

Well, there are the wargals and Kalkara, plus heaps of general bloodshed. Reading it is all very well but in a movie it could get a little graphic, to say the least.

I think they can get away with it, arrows don't have to spill gallons of blood, and I don't remember a particularly gruesome fight in the first book. And even if there is, it can be toned down do suit the movie better. I don't get why the Kalkara and Wargals would raise the rating. They don't have to look that creepy or bloody.

In the US it would probably be PG-13. I read that M is for 15 over and I think that would be a bit much.
US Movie Ratings, G – General Audiences = All ages admitted PG – Parental Guidance Suggested = Some material may not be suitable for children PG-13 – Parents Strongly Cautioned = Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13 R – Restricted = Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. NC-17 – Adults Only = No One 17 and Under Admitted
