Another one of my questions as an equestrian is how the horses are trained and what breed they are. I know, it's not a very important thing to most but breeds can affect things more than some understand because of their varying temperaments and abilities. And, horses use body language to speak to each other so they use it with people as well. The pricking of ears shows happiness in many situations but in others, it shows fear if their head shoots up and the horse's breathing gets heavy. A horse pinning back their ears shows the rider that the horse is unhappy or angry with another horse. It isn't often that they neigh and whinny to speak. Most of it is just Will interpreting the horse's body language as a response. And, side note, most people talk to their horses including me. They are good listeners.

I think they were some sort of Temujin crossbreed, since in one of the books it is revealed that Halt stole Temujin horses so that what we know as "Ranger horses" today could be bred
