I would of mentioned the speed of gait (that's how i can keep up with my brothers lol) but race horses are trained to run as fast as possible so...

Exactly. A short legged ranger horse could run a 2 per second and a long legged race horse could run 1 per second They would run the same and logically the ranger horse would get tired faster

I'm not sure tiring faster would be part of it. Ranger horses are bread for stamina as much as, if not more than, speed. I think, physically, a Ranger horse couldn't outrun a racehorse. That's not to say they wouldn't beat the race horse in a race, but they'd have to find some other tactical way of winning, rather than speed.(Which I'm sure they could do if they had to) In 643 (or whatever year it was), the Ranger horses were the fastest horses in the known world. However, I think modern day breeding has progressed a lot and our horses would be faster, though they probably couldn't match Ranger horses for stamina. To be honest, they probably wouldn't even get to battle horse standard as far as stamina's concerned and certainly not strength. Horses were the main form of transport then so they would have been very fit by necessity. A horse needed to be able to be on the move from dawn to dusk and still be healthy enough in the morning to do it again.

then again, the terrain was much harder of the horses, and the horses now days are not used to that sorta thing, plus, if the ranger horses went on a modern race track, it would be like baby's play for them after what they are accustomed to, ya know?

The leg length would still give the race horses the advantage.

let's just say they were on the same track, with the same packs, the ranger horse would win by a long shot, but if we're talking how they race most of the time, the race horses would win.

I still think the race horses would be faster. Who one would have to depend on many things, chief among them the distance of the race track.

There are som long distance races tho. Theres one in America that's five miles long. Any race horse that could win that would cream a ranger horse.

Exactly. Race horses are bread and every little detail is focused on. They are bread for specific distances, types of tracks, competition, ect. Ranger horses are universal and that would be their weakness. Ranger horses are good at anything. Race horses are professional at one thing. Racing.

but they are only used to the same easy tracks, a ranger horse would be able to go Waaay faster on a modern track, they would leave the race horses in the dust!

Race horses are trained on a variaty of tracks, tho. I dont think Ranger's horses wiuld get enuff extra speed to beat a race horse.

It's not so much a lack of faith, Kiwi, as an understanding of just how fast modern race horses are. Ranger horses are bread to be smaller and stockier, less fine boned and more stable. They're bread for being able to go forever without weakening and being able to hold their own in a battle. Race horses wouldn't survive what the Ranger horses go through, but I doubt Ranger horses could beat the race horses at their own game.
